Musica Marin’s Composer-in-Residence, Clint Borzoni
Musica Marin is so very pleased to announce that starting immediately 34 year old award winning New York based composer Clint Borzoni will be its first Composer-in-Residence. A residency such as this is truly significant, a combination of writing new compositions and performing compositions already in Borzoni’s repertoire.
This brings Musica Marin to another level of excellence. He is prolific, having written over seventy pieces, including two full-length operas, two one-act operas, a piano concerto, percussion quartet, work for orchestra, two string quartets, several works for chamber orchestra and over forty art songs. His music reflects his passion for lyricism and functional harmony.
A resident artist in the American Lyric Theater’s Composer Librettist Development Program, Mr. Borzoni has also been honored with the Morton Feldman Award, the Boston Metro Opera Festival Award, and was the winner of opera mission’s cabaret song competition. He has most recently been commissioned by the Delaware Art Museum, the Big Apple Corps Symphonic Band, and the Foundation for the Advancement of Baritones. His new opera with John de los Santos, The Copper Queen, was chosen as the winner of Arizona Opera’s inaugural commission program, Arizona Spark and will receive a second workshop in September, 2016.
Now having successfully collaborated with Musica Marin for the January 2016 event with two world premiere commissioned songs for baritone and string quartet, Clint will be creating exciting new commissions that will be heard by Musica Marin audiences. The upcoming May event “An Afternoon In Belvedere”, will feature a world premiere string quartet suite based on themes from Borzoni’s third opera, “When Adonis Calls”, and performed in an exquisite home in Belvedere, California.
